The phrase “Not my monkeys, not my circus” is commonly attributed to a Polish proverb: “Nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy.” It means that someone’s problems are not your responsibility. The expression became popular internationally through translations and internet culture, although its exact historical origin in Polish usage is uncertain. The sarcastic supplement is a typically British addition!
